The arthene Gallery was founded in 2024 and is based both online and in the heart of German Art Nouveau – Darmstadt, right on the historic market square.

Like many, we searched for our "unique selling point” and we found it. Our strength lies in the joy of engaging with art: in buying and selling, in researching provenance, and in carefully analyzing each work. This passion is guided by two core principles:

• Making art accessible. We believe that people should live with original works rather than mass-produced reproductions—something real on their walls, to enjoy for years and perhaps one day pass on.

• Demystifying art. Every artwork comes with a context. Without it, meaning can easily slip into confusion. That’s why each piece in our collection is accompanied by a clear, detailed description based on a consistent standard. We provide insight into the work’s background, the artist, and essential aspects such as composition, form, perspective, technique, style, historical context, and provenance.

In the future, arthene will also open its platform to private sellers. All works will remain carefully reviewed and quality-assured by our team, ensuring that what reaches our audience always meets our standards of authenticity and value.
